Store Branding

So I took on my largest job yet.  I got to create a bunch of custom hand painted wall and office wall pieces for Foothills Pool Care and Repair.  It's rare that I have clients that just tell me to do whatever I think is best, but that is typically the case with Foothills Pool Care.  This was a very fun project, and I hope to do a lot more similar work like it in the future.

That must be a fun job

When you tell someone you are a designer, most times there reaction is something along the lines of, "that must be a fun job".  Though it can be a fun and rewarding job, being a designer is incredibly challenging, and often hard work.  There are few jobs, and every single day your job is to be more creative than you were the day before.  The thing that many people don't realize is that often you are creating and designing things based solely based on someone else's ideas, and input.  It is pretty rare that a client gives you complete creative control on a project.  In the rare instances that this happens it be very liberating and enjoyable, but also has its own set of challenges.  Often when given little input you can spend a lot of time working on concepts only to hear that this isn't what the client had in mind.

For these reasons, and others I decided to leave what many people consider a "good" job, and I am trying to create my own destiny with starting The Old 93.  Though I will be doing more and more client work, I have just been creating signs from my own concepts and ideas.  This has been a challenging and rewarding venture, and I am only just getting started.  So much still to learn, so much still to do to really even my own business off the ground.  I hope you enjoy some of my work, and join me in this journey with me.
